Google Updates Page Rank in Toolbar
Most people have the Google toolbar these days. There are plenty of things you can use this toolbar for, but one of the most common is to keep up with page rank. Google updates their toolbar every 4 months, so in the interest of keeping up with the latest news in the search engines I would be depriving you of valuable knowledge if I did not mention that Google recently updated the page rank in the toolbar.
Now, before you get all excited, you should know that the PR or page rank bar in the Google toolbar does not hold much weight. It really has no berring on how you actually rank in the search engines. I have clients that rank on the first page of Google who only have a PR of zero for that page. So the toolbar page rank doesn’t represent your true rankings in the SERP’s.
What does influence the PR in the toolbar is your incoming linking structure. The more high quality authoritative websites you have linking to you the higher your page rank will be in the tool bar. Not to mention that will bring you up in the organic listings as well for the keywords your trying to be found for. Just make sure the keywords that you want to be found for are in your anchor text or link text that links back to your site.
I could go on forever about proper link building strategies but I’ll save that for another post. If you are not happy with your current page rank try spending the next 4 months developing a killer link building campaign from high quality, high PR websites and by the next update you should see those little green pixels moving on up.
